Recommendation Report
Introduction
As a high school senior, college choices are a top priority as the year continues. There are dozens of in-state schools and out-of-state schools to choose from. The criteria includes:
- Cost
- Location
- Medicine Program
Recommendation
I recommend the University of the Pacific. The cost of the school is a reasonable price with financial aid. The location of the school is about an hour by train outside the city of San Francisco. The school has a wonderful medical track and holds all the needs to transfer to a good medical school.
Discussion
Cost
I have no savings, whatsoever for college, I have only so scholarships and whatever financial aid wants to give me.
UCLA is 37,000 per year which is around what I could afford and with Financial aid I could well afford with a lower price.
UCSD is $40,00 a year but with financial aid could possible be affordable.
UOP is $58,701 a year which is way out of my price range even with financial aid. And since my parents cannot afford to put me through it I would be putting myself through it.
Location
Although part of the college experience is living away from home, that might not be an option.
UCLA is right in LA which is ideal because it would give me space from my family, but not too much space and not too little space.
UCSD I could live at home and save money on housing. But then I know longer get to experience the“college life” that comes with living on campus.
UOP is in Stockton which is 8 hours away from SD which puts it very far from my family. Although at the same time it’s a good enough distance where I could have my freedom.
Medicine Program
I want to be a doctor so, while looking at schools the medical and science programs are what I really paid attention to.
UCLA has an amazing program and has wonderful medical school with amazing research. Their students are known nationwide.
UCSD also has an amazing medicine program and a lot of on going research and is well credited.
UOP has all the measures needed to be taken to get upcoming graduates into medical school, but it is wise to note that this school is well credited in other areas, including their science department.
Conclusion
I recommend the University of the Pacific, for it gives me my freedom and the chance the to live on my own. They have an amazing science department, and I myself am very happy to get the chance to explore. They are also a great a school to have behind one when applying to medical school. Although the price is a little high, I believe it can work and that everything will be okay.
